About the Role

Supporting your return to work or transition to Mining.



The BHP Technical Entry Program (TEP) is a recruitment program offering permanent part-time and full-time job opportunities for new-to-industry talent with relevant experience OR experienced professionals returning to the workforce after a career break or extended absence.



The program offers flexible work options and career return support including dedicated on the job coaching, mentoring and specialised development that will enable you to put your best foot forward.



Program eligibility is for individuals who:
  • Have been on a career break or extended absence for around 2 years or more and/or;
  • Are open to intensive on the job learning
  • Have experience in, or have exposure/interest in the advertised skills
  • Are based in Mackay - Hay Point and have working rights in Australia

About the roles



You will work within a team relative to your experience over the course of 6 months whilst completing the development program with intention to then transition into a “Business as Usual” role mutually benefiting your skills, passion and fit within our teams.

The roles will leverage and build upon skills, capability & excellence for our future professionals within the Technical function by creating experience, exposure, and education opportunities for applicants to work in one of the various sub-functions that support our operational assets and global business. Participants will develop on skills that enable them to be a performing member of the Maintenance & Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE) Maintenance Planning & Scheduling team.

You will work within this teams over the course of 6 months with intention to then be placed into permanent business as usual roles mutually benefiting your skills and fit within our team.

About You

We are looking for experienced individuals with a range of different backgrounds in the HSE, technology, project management, resource exploration, engineering or operations fields. There is a variety of backgrounds we are searching for, you do not need to have more than one to apply. You’ll join one of the teams in BHP’s Technical function where your skills and experience will be valued and welcomed. Prior mining experience is not essential.

Your ability to build and maintain positive, caring work relationships through communicating with impact to influence and drive positive outcomes, will see you be successful in these roles. You will have exceptional organisational skills and the focus to deliver quality, timely outcomes and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop. You will possess the ability to adapt rapidly to a changing work environment and respond positively to ambiguous situations.
