Are you a collaborative and engaging individual who has a strong background in maritime operations? If so, we have an opportunity for a Operations Superintendent to join our team in Darwin, NT, where you will have daily oversight of the crew and vessels in our towage operations in the Port of Darwin.
What You Can Look Forward To
Svitzer Australia has a long-term contract to provide towage and other marine services to the multi-billion-dollar INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project in the Port of Darwin. Our office is located near the Darwin waterfront with our fleet of vessels closely nearby.
What You Will Do
Your key responsibilities in this position will include:
Oversee people processes for crew including recruitment, payroll, engagement, performance management, workers compensation and industrial relations matters
Ensure the vessel fleet is maintained, operationally fit for purpose and appropriate procedures, standards, and certifications are in place
Assist with the organisation of maintenance, technical matters and the management of contractors on site
Ensure all accidents and incidents are reported, investigated and closed out in a timely manner
Ensure vessels are audited and surveyed in compliance with statutory requirements
Build and maintain effective relationships with client representatives and other stakeholders
Liaise with the port authority and other relevant regional statutory bodies
Contribute to budgets, forecasts and the ongoing review and optimisation of operational costs
What You Will Need To Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
Experience in a similar operational position within the maritime, oil and gas, or resources industries
Tertiary qualifications in management, a business-related discipline, or marine certifications, will be highly regarded
Excellent people skills and the ability to develop relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating a strong degree of initiative and confidence to make decisions
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence change and successfully negotiate agreed outcome
Desire and ability to achieve objectives and deliver results with a long-term and strategic focus
Ability to remain composed working under pressure or to deadlines, particularly in emergency situations
