AFL EVENTS Our world class AFL Events Team are currently seeking applications for the below listed positions:

  • Senior Events Executive
  • Events Executive
  • Events Coordinator

The AFL Events Team are responsible for the successful delivery of a number of the AFL’s Major Events consisting of awards nights, corporate hospitality, public events, executive events and match day events.
The AFL Major Events Calendar is exciting! And includes but is not limited to the Toyota AFL/W Premiership Season Launch, Anzac Day, Dreamtime at the ‘G, Australian Football Hall of Fame, All Australian, Charles Brownlow Medal, Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade and Live Site, Footy Festival, Toyota AFL/W Grand Final events and AFL/W Draft.
Our Events Team vacancies hold varying responsibilities in contributing to and delivering on the creative aspects and end to end coordination of our Major Events. Senior Events Executive The Senior Events Executive is responsible for the leadership of an Events Executive/ Coordinator throughout the end-to-end delivery of an AFL Major Event. The Senior Events Executive may also be solely responsible for the execution of an Event/Function throughout the calendar year. Key Accountabilities:
  • Concept development
  • Run sheet and production schedule creation and management
  • Critical Path/Milestone planning
  • Entertainment including MCs, speakers, etc. Along with the production of MC Notes
  • Organisation of AV production and venue requirements
  • Sponsor liaison and implementation
  • Scheduling and management all event staff including Event Hosts and Stage Managers
  • Liaison with internal stakeholders
  • Managing the design and production of all collateral and overseeing AFL website and social media platform content
  • Creation and management of full event budget which complies with department allocations
  • Producing event debrief reports demonstrating the successes and areas for improvement
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of the Event Management Software (Aptify) to ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved
  • People management including workload, event execution, support and performance
  • Providing additional support to the Director of Events & Match Day with regard to the delivery of other events not specified, as required

Mandatory Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience within the events industry
  • Demonstrated experience in running end to end events and production
  • Knowledge of event venues and production requirements
  • Budget management skills
  • People leadership skills

Events Executive The Events Executive is responsible for the successful delivery of a number of the AFL’s Major Events and for the leadership of an Events Coordinator. Key Accountabilities:
  • Contributing to and leading concept development processes
  • Run sheet and production schedule creation and management
  • Accurate, timely and professional end to end management and coordination of events including venues bookings, catering, guest lists, MCs and MCs notes, AV equipment, setup etc
  • Providing clear and frequent communication to internal and external stakeholders as well as sponsors
  • Scheduling and leading event staff including Event Hosts and Stage Managers
  • Production of event debrief reports demonstrating the successes, areas for improvement and guest feedback
  • Supervise the Event Coordinator and provide assistance and guidance as required
  • Challenging existing processes in order to support improvement/ efficiencies
Core Competencies:
  • Demonstrated experience in the events/ hospitality industry with the confidence to facilitate the end-to-end delivery of an event/function
  • Knowledge of event venues and production requirements
  • Ability to manage and coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and within set timeframes
  • Ability to be creative and innovative to ensure events are always the benchmark
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage people within a high-performance environment

Events Coordinator The AFL Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting the successful end-to-end delivery and administration of a number of events on the AFL Calendar. The Coordinator will also be responsible for upkeeping the AFL Events database, assistance with stock management and other various tasks across the team. Key Accountabilities:
  • Guest list management and invitations, RSVPs, table allocations etc
  • Identify, book and coordinate venues/catering/ security/audio & visual requirements
  • Coordinate running sheets and production schedules
  • Coordinate MC notes and entertainment content
  • Coordination of function hosts & talent including dressing rooms/ travel/ transfers/ accommodation
  • Production of key documents, events kits, accreditations
  • Coordination and management of Football Clubs and local/ state bodies to assist with ticketing and Match Day requirements
  • Working with naming rights partners, third party suppliers and internal departments to ensure desired outcomes are met
  • Production and distribution of post-event feedback surveys
  • Administrative task including the upkeep of our Event Management Database
  • Other assistance/ support across Major Events as required
