About the Business Unit

Gaming and Liquor advises the Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation (Minister) on the development and implementation of liquor and gambling legislation and regulation, and on current and emerging liquor and gambling-related issues.

Gaming and Liquor is responsible for delivering and further developing the Victorian Government's strategic response to gambling and liquor issues. Gaming and Liquor is the primary government point of reference for industry, community and government on liquor and gaming issues. Gaming and Liquor sits within the Service Delivery Reform, Coordination and Regulation group.


About the Role

The Gambling and Liquor Policy unit provides leadership and support for gambling and liquor policy development and delivery. The Senior Policy Officer will support the unit in delivery of:

  • Strategic policy advice and support to the Minister, and senior management, in relation to responsible gambling and liquor policy, and the regulatory framework for both gaming and liquor
  • Stakeholder engagement and the integration of advice to the Minister on responsible gambling and alcohol consumption and regulatory matters
  • The development and/or implementation of a range of gaming and liquor policy, legislative and regulatory initiatives
  • The integration of the work of Gaming and Liquor.

About you

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Demonstrated policy development capability, including the ability to achieve objectives within tight timeframes, and actively engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement and awareness of the political context.
  • An understanding of gambling and liquor industries, or the ability to develop such an understanding.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications or experience in a relevant field will be well regarded.
