Child Safeguard is an award-winning consultancy firm and incorporated legal practice that helps organisations prevent harm to children and young people and keep them safer. Child Safeguard is specialised in advising organisations in the implementation of Child Safe practices.

About the Role

This position is open for law students who qualify as a PLT intern. We are looking for 2 interns available for 2 or 3 days a week.

The position involves a probation period of 3 months and will start as soon as possible. After the initial probation period, the successful candidates may be offered an ongoing position based on meeting performance standards.

The PLT intern will be supervised by the Principal Solicitor and CEO, Marco Blanco.

This placement complies with the PLT requirements of The College of Law. The placement is for a minimum of 6 months.

The intern has broad responsibilities across the core businesses of the organisation, including but not limited to:

  • Legal research
  • Legal compliance in the areas of child protection, child employment, child safe standards, working with children checks
  • Development of child safeguarding training content
  • Assistance in delivery of child safe training
  • Development of policies and procedures
  • Delivery of child safe audits
  • Development of child safe report

Selection Criteria - Qualifications, skills, and experience

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, equivalent knowledge and workplace experience
  • Ability to liaise with a diverse range of people & build strong relationships
  • Demonstrated high level verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise documents, including research briefs and memos, factsheets.
  • Exceptional grammar
  • Exceptional research skills
  • Strong academic record
  • Passion for Child Rights and Child Safeguarding.
  • Ability to work independently with professional guidance.
  • Relevant work/volunteer experience.

Desirable

  • Prior experience working in a law firm, and/or child rights organisation

Remuneration

The salary and conditions are:

  • $50,000.00 pro rata + 10.5% superannuation
  • Flexible working hours
