Primary Details Time Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee Strategy Manager is responsible for managing strategic projects and leading analysis to help QBE answer its most important strategic questions on its journey to become a stronger, simpler and most customer focused insurer. This role is also instrumental in coaching and developing more junior team members and stakeholders from across the business in core strategy skills – e.g. analysis and problem solving, strategic thinking, influencing and communication.

This role is not authorised to provide financial product advice to retail customers in respect of General Insurance products. Financial product advice, means a statement or recommendation made to a retail customer with the intention of influencing their decision in considering a general insurance product. The opportunity

Your new role Strategy analyst is responsible for research, analysis and generating insights for strategic projects to help QBE answer its most important strategic questions on its journey to become a simpler, stronger and more customer centered insurer. This role is instrumental in supporting the Strategy Manager to generate quality deliverables, working within strategy problem solving frameworks and practices (e.g. hypotheses driven approach, driver trees, value-chain, porters 5 forces) as well as building financial models and collaborating across our business to support strategy work. Reporting to the Senior Strategy Manager– Strategy & Business Architecture, your key responsibilities will include (but not limited to) supporting the team in the following:
  • Proactively develop an understanding of the business, industry, customer and partner needs
  • Research and source relevant information, analyse with rigour and creativity to generate insights that solve problems
  • Work within strategic problem-solving frameworks and practices (e.g. hypotheses-driven approach, driver trees, value-chain)
  • Identify and understands implications, risks and dependencies
  • Build financial models to support strategy work
  • Create high quality outputs with appropriate attention to detail
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal
  • Collaborate, engage confidently and effectively with other team members and stakeholders across the business, including running workshops and presentations
Your story so far
  • Tertiary qualifications with demonstrated strong academic performance (any discipline)
  • 1-3 years working experience in a role with exposure to disciplines such as strategy, finance, business analysis, project management or similar
  • Developed core strategy skills i.e. structured approach to problem solving, analysis and insights, strategic communication and report writing (preferable)
  • Demonstrate financial modelling and analysis skills
  • Ability to plan and organise own work to deliver on expectations, proactively raise issues and concerns that may impede ability to deliver
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • Proactive attitude to achieve outcomes, seek feedback on performance and development opportunities
