We at Liberty Primary Steel and SIMEC Mining would like to invite recent or soon-to-be graduates to take part in our 2024 Graduate Program under the Finance discipline.

About the opportunity

In addition to the technical aspects of the role, we offer a hands-on approach to broaden your skillset from an interpersonal and professional perspective.


Graduate Program

Commencing on the 22nd of January 2024 (2yr Fixed Term Contract), you will find yourself working on-site and alongside leading professionals in their field. With a structured professional development program, you will participate in exciting projects and continue building your experience on our daily operations ‘ins and outs’.

On-site Experience

As part of your placement, you will be based on-site at either our Liberty Primary Steel or SIMEC sites.


Liberty Primary Steel - Whyalla, SA

Located at Whyalla, South Australia, approximately 400 kilometers northwest of Adelaide. We operate integrated steelworks including steel making, blast furnace, coke oven, and rolling mill facilities. Producing billet for rolling in Liberty Steel and other manufacturing sites and for export, together with rail and structural steel products.


SIMEC Mining - Whyalla, SA

Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla; consists of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob, and the South Middleback Ranges. The Alliance also owns a portfolio of non-ferrous mining assets located in South Australia. This includes the Ardrossan Dolomite Mine – which supplies dolomite flux to Liberty’s Whyalla Steelworks – as well as a collection of copper-gold exploration projects.

About you

To be eligible, you must be:

  • An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (or NZ citizen)
  • Studying (or studied) at an Australian or New Zealand University
  • In your final year of study or have graduated in the last 2 years. Please include a transcript or recent results with your CV
