The Expansion function is here to support in adding meaningful growth. We are responsible, in partnership with our brands, for all aspects of creating and maintaining our real estate portfolio: we lease, design, draw, buy, build and maintain each store and constantly follow up on the existing portfolio to ensure high profitability. We add new stores and optimize the current portfolio through rebuilds, extensions, renegotiations, relocations and consolidations.

On this journey we´re all collaborating to create the best omni customer offer for our customers and as a Junior Real Estate / Lease Manager for H&M Belgium and Luxembourg you will be a key player in making this happen. You will work closely with the Head of Expansion to execute the expansion strategy and meet long-term objectives for your market. Together with the team, you will manage our physical store portfolio, negotiations and set a foundation for collaboration and alignment across expansion functions on strategy and projects.

Key responsibilities include areas such as:

  • Setting the OMNI strategy for your market portfolio, mapping the full potential within your geographic region.
  • Negotiating the best possible deal with key property owners and agents and recommending business cases based on market OMNI strategy.
  • Taking ownership of optimizing your portfolio through opening, renegotiating, rebuilding, moving and closing stores.
  • Interacting and working with multiple functions and stakeholders in the company to create solid business cases, budgets, P&L’s, sales forecasts.
  • Secure a long term healthy & relevant portfolio within your market.

To be successful you need to have knowledge on how to optimize sales as well as to have an interest in and an understanding of retail in general. You are positive, have exceptional communication and presentation skills the ability to get everyone on board. On top of this you need to be confident and not afraid to leave your comfort zone.

Besides your personality we see that you have:

  • A Business or Engineering degree.
  • 1-2 years of relevant working experience in retail, real estate, sales or finance.
  • Strong analytical skills, a strategic approach and ability to phrase a clear recommendation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and confidence to take difficult conversations. Experience in negotiation is a plus.
  • Strong in planning and executing together with a “can-do attitude”.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a growth mindset.
  • Team player and overall strong ambassador of our values.
  • Fluent in English, and French or Dutch.
  • Strong Microsoft Suite skills (Powerpoint, Excel).
  • Flexibility to travel within the market on a frequent basis.
