This Scientist will have the following major responsibilities:

  • Guide and support all controlled substance regulated business activities involved in research use, analysis, importing, exporting and distribution within Janssen R&D, Beerse.
  • Licensing, procurement, recordkeeping, chain of custody, shipment, and reverse distribution of controlled substances.
  • Represent the company by interfacing with governmental agencies regarding controlled substance audits and inquiries.
  • Perform distribution and/or witnessing of controlled substance distribution requests.
  • Manage and coordinate activities among the controlled substance license holders and liaison between functions, the registrar, and the BE Controlled Substance Department.
  • Conduct inventory on time and coordinate movement and chain of custody transfers for all controlled substances in compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure clear and efficient methods for maintaining accountability of all controlled substances are developed and implemented.
  • Review and develop policies and procedures relating to controlled substance compliance.
  • Importation/exportation of controlled substance, small and large molecules.
  • Monitor and coordinate the reverse distribution activities for all controlled substances.
  • Work with the Security department to implement and maintain security control measures relating to the safekeeping of controlled substances.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with 10+ years of experience in handling and/or managing controlled substances or equivalent overall level of knowledge based upon previous work experience is required.
  • Direct experience working with or managing controlled substances in R&D, Manufacturing or equivalent is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff is required.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in priorities based upon shifting business needs is required.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and other controlled substance compliance systems is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of controlled substance regulations and how they are met in a pharmaceutical R&D environment is required.
