Encompassing three floors (B6, B7 and B8) this program has a varying patient population with acute care needs. MIP is a hospitalist led model of care, including RNs, RPNs and PSWs, practicing to their full scope. Nurses on this unit will be given the opportunity to cross train between all three floors, allowing them to learn new roles and help their colleagues as patient needs and census changesPrimary ResponsibilitiesThe RN demonstrates professional development and clinical competency, utilizes the nursing process to assess plan, implement and evaluate patient care, addresses health educational needs for patients and families, and other health care providers, manages patient care assignments as well as other organizational tasks related to patient unit operations and acts in a clinical leadership role in the coordination of patient care for all assigned patients.Mandatory QualificationsGraduate of an accredited college or university nursing programRegistered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of OntarioCurrent 2 years of experience in a medical/surgical settingCurrent Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificationEffective September 7th, 2021 all applicants must provide proof of two doses for full vaccination against Covid-19 (in the form of watermark receipts from the provincial portal) or provide written proof of a medical or religious reason for not being fully vaccinated as per Organization Policy, Covid-19 Immunization and Management.Mandatory CompetenciesDemonstrated ability to work within a Total Patient Care Delivery system in which regulated health care professionals practice to their full scope adhering to the practice standards as defined by the College of Nurses of OntarioProven critical thinking skills, creative problem solver with a solution focus and patient centred approachDemonstrated ability to communicate and use effective interpersonal skills with colleagues and other members of the BCHS and external partnersAbility to multitask and set priorities in a high intensity and rapidly changing environmentExceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focusCreative problem solver with a solution focus and patient friendly approachDemonstrates commitment to exceptional customer service with patients, families, staff, colleagues and community partnersAbility to establish positive and proactive work relationships with external partnersDemonstrated excellence in patient assessment and care planningMature, reliable individual with excellent attendance record and able to work all shiftsSafety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority.
