This position, reporting to the Manager of Global Baggage, plays a crucial role in coordinating and executing baggage initiatives to drive operational excellence in their assigned region. The Global Baggage Manager will leverage analytics, operational best practices, and close collaboration with station partners and the Global Baggage Team to ensure effective and scalable solutions are implemented. The incumbent will be a flexible, proactive, and results-oriented individual who can thrive in a complex and fast-paced environment.

Key Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive baggage performance strategies to drive improvement in accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in operations.

  • Partner with station leads and stakeholders to drive change and implement best practices in baggage handling processes.

  • Working closely with the Global Baggage Team to ensure cross-functional collaboration and alignment on key initiatives.

  • Leverage data analytics and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and track progress.

  • Provide regular updates and report on baggage performance to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Monitor and analyze station KPI performance, provides regular feedback to local management, and implements performance improvement plans.

  • Manage performance evaluation tools, create new KPIs, and provide regular performance assessments to evaluate baggage operations.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives and projects aimed at driving best-in-class baggage performance.

  • Provide guidance and support to new hires, station leads, and stakeholders on all baggage-related topics.

  • Advise on workforce requirements and provides recommendations to optimize performance and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Lead weekly meetings with Global Baggage Team to share updates, review challenges, and discuss best practices.

  • Conduct regular flight audits, analyzes baggage performance data, and implements proactive measures to improve baggage handling processes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and station leads to improve communication and coordination across departments and eliminate baggage segregation.

  • Conduct training and onboarding sessions for new hires, provides continuous support and guidance during their development, and fosters a positive culture of learning and growth.

  • Resolve baggage issues by acting as a liaison between internal departments and OALs and ensuring prompt resolution and communication of issues to all stakeholders.

  • Identify process weaknesses, conduct root cause analysis, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize baggage handling processes.

  • Provide expertise to stakeholders and team members on all global baggage related initiatives and on best practices and industry standards.

  • Support Corporate Security Initiatives by promoting a secure baggage handling environment and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

  • Provide regular reports to senior management on baggage performance, trends, and areas for improvement.

  • Lead the execution of operational initiatives and projects aimed at improving baggage performance in their assigned region.

Qualifications


The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a baggage management role in the aviation industry is an asset.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and work effectively with stakeholders and partners.

  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced and changing environment.
