What You'll Be Doing
The Centralized Lending Consultant, Business Effectiveness reporting to the Senior Manager, will be responsible for the coordination and resolution of issues as identified through escalation to a dedicated mailbox. You will support Banking Centre Leaders/Delegates and Lenders in resolution of lending issues that may cause failure to fund or in need of remediation support. You will be the primary point of contact with the Banking Centres within their respective Regions to assist with the completion of unresolved/outstanding lending issues. You will be responsible for identifying gaps or issues in tools, templates, applications and processes and escalating these for remediation. This role is considered a teaching role and each interaction should assist the lender in not only understanding how to fix the issue but also prevent it from happening again. You will have access to lending applications and will be able to view loans applications and diagnose issues. You will have dedicated escalation channels to act rapidly when a loan is in peril of being lost to a competitor or failing to fund. You will support projects and other special initiatives that impact the business. You can effectively perform all work activities remotely, and will only be required to be on-site on an occasional basis. How You'll Succeed

  • Collaborative - Collaborate with the Senior Manager to ensure that the strategic goals & objectives of the Banking Centre Channel are being achieved, with responsibility for ensuring compliance to the operations and risk activities.
  • Consult – Provide direction to a designated list of Banking Centres to ensure resolution of lending issues when they arise. Review loans with outstanding issues (dashboard reporting) and proactively reach out to lenders to assist in resolving loan issues and obtains all relevant information by asking clarifying questions, requesting documentation where appropriate and conducting appropriate follow-up where necessary.
  • Detail Oriented - Ensure timely review, follow-up and resolve lender knowledge gaps by providing guidance to the Banking Centre Leader/Delegates. Conduct appropriate research and make focused inquiries in order to identify opportunities for potential resolution or to make appropriate recommendations on the disposition of issues.
  • Problem Solver - Identify and bring forward procedural failures that are clearly identified and researched where appropriate to the Senior Manager for investigation.
  • Subject Matter - Provide regular assistance/guidance to Banking Centre employees by explaining technical processes/issues and resolving a range of irregularity-related problems.
  • Who You Are
  • You are knowledgeable. You have detailed knowledge of CIBC’s lending processes and controls process knowledge that support Banking Centres such as the CLS SBS, can assist in underwriting issues (example complex income selector tool usage) scanning issues (especially for banking centres with limited technology due to geography) and most critical issues that could prevent advancing on the DFR due to missing/incorrect data, documents, solicitor special handling etc..
  • You're an expert. Strong analytical, decision making, problem solving skills with an ability to take a conceptual view of situations. Sufficient procedural knowledge to conduct forensic investigations of complex loans sufficient to determine what has caused an irregularity and be able to achieve resolution.
  • Relationship Building. Use your skills implement change in situations involving matters of business policy and strategy relevant to Personal and Small Business Banking Centres delivery network.

  • You know success lies in the details. Organized and detail oriented to manage high volumes of caseload, prioritize issues and tasks and meet deadlines.
