About the Role

Supervise the activities of Robotics Technicians, and Robot Simulation Technicians. Interview, hire, schedule staff and work-related travel and issue disciplinary action as needed. Monitor project timelines and adjust manpower levels as required. Co-ordinate the purchasing of all robots and related hardware. Develop and enforce department software and design standards and buyoff documents. Must also ensure that buyoffs are performed correctly and on a consistent basis and take part in program launches and integration of new equipment.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the completion of quality repairs by providing "on the floor" direction to Robotics/ Automation personnel within the applicable area(s) to ensure that work requirements are properly prioritized; that the work is completed to an acceptable level of quality within and acceptable time frame. Effectively communicate with production to ensure maintenance efforts are focused on equipment that is causing downtime and scrap. Effectively communicate with required personnel to ensure that part requirements are managed timely and cost-effectively. Minimize downtime by ensuring that the P/M schedule is effective, up-to-date, and that all required spare parts are available. Assist in the scheduling of Automation PM activities, as required.Provide support to production during trouble-shooting activities
  2. Responsible for modifying existing automation control systems as well as designing, estimating, and commissioning new automation control systems integrated with Robots based on PLC's
  3. Implement Safety Category 4 for all required installations, presses and robotics work cells
  4. Integrate equipment with robots and various testing and monitoring instruments
  5. Troubleshoot process problems and initiative and/or participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and quality improvements
  6. Maintain and service automated work cells, Robots, Camera, Error proofing, Barcode Etching. Set up and conduct predictive and preventative maintenance programs for required equipment
Who we are looking for
  • Degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Certified Electrician, an asset
  • Minimum 3 Years of experience in Electrical / Controls Design and Programmable Logic Controllers / Human Machine Interface Programming (PLC / HMI) / Vision Systems / Robot programming and troubleshooting including debugging, testing and commissioning.
  • Strong MS Office skills
Your preferred qualifications

  • Proven experience in maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Good knowledge of related codes, health and safety act, fire codes, building codes, environmental laws
  • Able to read any circuit diagram and correlate to actual work piece
  • Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • Good understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and controls
  • Sound computer skills, including knowledge of software in current use and a good understanding of lean manufacturing, an asset
