This is a contract position for a Solutions Designer for our public sector client.
Work location: Downtown Toronto
Duration: Twelve Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
Undertakes the design of hosting technology solutions based on the clientâs service specifications, standards, policies, best practices and cost models, in order to meet client application business requirement and project/initiative deliverables.

General Skills:
- Knowledge of integrated networking technologies, mainframe, midrange server, enterprise storage and SAN, and personal computer system technologies
- Knowledge of related best practices, OPS directory/messaging standards, standard facilities infrastructure/architecture management, facility service delivery processes, infrastructures policies, procedures and direction, cost models and procurement processes
- Ability to gather client business requirements; corporate I&IT information mandates, client information technology strategic plans, environment and standards
- Ability to participate in the development of solutions and provide advice on short/long term solution service development activities
- Knowledge of leading edge technologies design criteria, security and recovery procedures, preparation of technical specifications for installation, testing and performance of integrated, multi-services systems; assess performance and capacity of existing system making recommendations for improving performance and develop technical documentation
- Experience planning, migrating, implementing and sustaining large complex system development projects
- Knowledge of technology developments, trends and new products to evaluated application to client short and long term technology requirements
- Basic knowledge of project management methodology (e.g. PMBOK), analytical tools and processes
- Conceptual and analytical skills to assess and evaluate client needs and conduct cost/benefit analyses for new technology requirements in planning and designing solutions
- Experience designing and developing large, complex, highly available, mission critical server applications
- Experience with systems evaluation to assess conditions, technical performance and capacity of existing systems and determine need and feasibility of expansion, renovation or replacement

Specific Skills:
- Proven experience of working with data as well as the related functional applications
- Conversant with Power BI Design / Accessibility Standards, works with business to drive out KPIs and assists with visualization and impactful insights leveraging knowledge of business domain data to drive out business needs using Power BI Proof of Concepts/mock-ups.
- Demonstrated experience with capturing source to target requirements, supporting business rules and dataflow requirements, comfortable navigating databases using SQL to conduct analysis in support of feasibility and documentation
- Demonstrated experience with: Microsoft Azure Data Factory Services, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, DataStage, Quality Stage, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Services, SQL Server Management Studio
- An asset if the resource also has Erwin Data Modeler, Power Designer (Hands-on Development Role)
- Proven ability to guide the architecture leveraging Azure cloud services, including effective standard use of Microsoft Stack tools and services critical for the integrity, quality and pace of delivery
- Demonstrated knowledge and deep MS stack experience (10 Years) with at least 4 years with Microsoft Azure Data Factory experience
- Demonstrated experience with data ingestion from multiple sources, staging and data cleansing, including dimensional modeling and data model architecture and design aligned with data standards and analytics needs of various stakeholders. Includes creation of data warehouses, views, cubes, and other data services products

Qualifications
- Microsoft BI stack including Power BI for analytic reporting solution experience including ETL experience and experience migrating solutions from Oracle/Cognos/Informatica BI
- Leading technical team including BI dashboard developers, and assisting architects with documentation
- Experience with R-scripts and converting requirements from R Scripts into ETL Scripts
- 10+ years of hands-on experience ETL development experience using SSIS / ADF in a data warehousing environment or large data migration; Working experience in debugging mappings, transformations and source qualifier files and Unit testing the newly developed ETL components
- Experience working with Oracle and MSSQL databases
