You’ll be a part of the Internal Solutions team at Shopify, and our mandate is to support the day-to-day lives of Shopifolk by finding solutions that enhance their experience and productivity within Shopify’s operations. In this role, you’ll have a unique opportunity to support the pivot, development, and scaling of our travel program for a post-COVID world. Our goal is to be a leader in the corporate travel space and create a tech-forward, traveler-centric program that makes travel better for everyone.

Job Description

Some of the things you’ll be doing:

  • Today: supporting the unique demands of essential travel during a global pandemic, and building out the travel program to support the needs of travelers and Shopify post-COVID. This could be helping Shopifolk relocate to a new home, negotiating airline or hotel agreements, working with vendors to roadmap products that meet Shopify’s future travel needs - and more.
  • Tomorrow: supporting Shopifolk’s day-to-day travel, managing airline and hotel relationships, creating travel policies and communications, educating Shopifolk about the program - and more.

  • Analyzing data - data is indispensable for scaling our program globally. It will help us answer questions like, “Where are the most frequent cities we stay?” and “What frequent routes do we fly?” and leverage the answers into building a program that supports Shopifolk and Shopify’s business needs.

  • Switching from high-level, strategic thinking about the direction of the program, to troubleshooting day-to-day travel questions.

  • Always looking for ways to scale and internationalize our travel program, as well as developing new relationships and tools, and proposing new ways of meeting Shopify’s travel needs.

  • Building relationships with many different stakeholders across our company: Mobility, Security, Culture Operations, Finance, Internal Solutions, and more. Our program only works if it supports the people who use it!


What will help you succeed:

  • Experience working in the travel industry (likely 3+ years)

  • Experience working on event or group travel

  • Experience analyzing data

  • Fluency in English

  • Project or program management experience

  • Being intentional and adapting on the fly (no pun intended). Shopify and the work you do will move quickly, but there will always be time to pause to ensure we’re moving in the right direction

  • The ability to see both the forest and the trees. Getting the details right is critical for a successful travel program, but so is seeing and driving the big picture forward

  • Being autonomous. Life at Shopify is fast-paced, and you’ll be responsible for making and running with decisions.

  • Negotiation skills. You’ll be working with travel vendors to build relationships and provide the best possible value to Shopify

  • Equal excitement about people, process, and data

It’d be a bonus if you had:

  • Experience scaling and developing a travel program in an unconventional way
  • Experience creating educational resources in any form
  • Experience in customer service - Shopifolk are our internal customers, after all!
  • Experience in vendor management/procurement
  • Experience working across different cultures
  • Additional language qualifications
