PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES


SAP´s Global Procurement Organization (GPO) is continuously transforming and evolves into an agile & strategic procurement organization. An optimal collaboration and partnership with all relevant stakeholders as part of the entire ecosystem will be imperative to meet the SAP’s ambitious growth plans, and support SAP’s strategy.

In this regard, GPO is looking for an encouraged Head of Procurement Category IT Solutions (f/m/d) with a strong business background. The role reports directly into the Chief Procurement Officer. This role is one of the key positions of GPO. The incumbent (f/m/d) is part of GPOs Senior Leadership Team and manages a team of 16 Category Managers and Category Buyers. The role includes facilitating and partnering with many organizations to execute global programs, with the objective to drive innovation and efficiency within and outside GPO, across all Line of Business as well as our global supplier base. The successful candidate will bring substantial category experience and must be an energetic and dynamic self-starter, who is able to deliver exceptional results.


ABOUT THE GPO CATEGORY


The IT Solutions Category (software, end user equipment, security, network collaboration and equipment) provides excellent business partnering to our internal and external stakeholders. The Category is responsible for the definition and execution of global sourcing strategies and the respective Governance model in close collaboration with business owners, corporate legal and finance, as well as for effective supplier and stakeholder management across the globe. In this regard the Category is overall accountable for all sourcing activities related to IT Solutions.


EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS


  • Be an active part of GPO and help to shape an agile procurement organization
  • Develop category strategies for all sub-categories and align them with key internal customers and CPO
  • Drive execution of defined strategies with focus on key stakeholder management and energizing own and extended team
  • Seek opportunities and innovations to deliver value to the business
  • Apply new approaches to generate savings and TCO reductions
  • Further drive and support GPOs Transformation towards a true strategic business partner
  • Partner closely with Line of Business and contribute to their business goals
  • Manage key strategic suppliers and leverage their innovation potential to drive company’s top line
  • Foster strong collaboration with different Procurement teams worldwide as well as the relevant stakeholders
  • GPO ambassador to showcase SAP Procurement Solutions in front of other large companies


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES


  • University degree preferably in Business Administration or IT, or a related field
  • Progressive procurement and category management experience
  • Strong leadership skills to develop talents, foster simplicity and challenge complexity
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Robust legal and contract negotiation experience
  • Experience in procurement best business practices
  • Fluent both English and German language skills mandatory


WORK EXPERIENCE


  • 10+ years of professional procurement experience in a multinational environment or relevant commercial experience in sales (advisory) roles
  • 2+ years’ experience as people manager would be a plus
