The Science Policy Team at the Leibniz Institute DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH, Braunschweig, Germany, is seeking to recruit a

Student Assistant (m/f/d)

part-time (employment of 34-39 monthly hours depending on the hourly rate of pay) for an initial period of three months with the possibility of extension.

Your task is to support the Science Policy team. Among other things, this consists of:

  • Creation and revision of documents and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Keeping website (www.nagoyaprotocol-hub.de and www.dsiscientificnetwork.org) and social media accounts up to date
  • Assisting with event preparation and follow-up, including managing participants, creating documents, taking minutes, etc.
  • Research work:
    • Assist in the collection of data from online scientific databases
    • Assist in the preparation of draft texts
  • Assist in the coordination of national and international virtual events (various platforms)

Your profile:

  • You are enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program.
  • You have a reliable, independent and careful way of working.
  • You have a good command of written and spoken English and German (other UN languages are an advantage!).
  • You are familiar with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You feel comfortable working with data tables.
  • You are familiar with programming languages such as R, Python, Bash, or other. (Desirable, but not obligatory).
  • You are interested in international science policy, international law, natural science (especially biology) and/or communication.
