About the role:

The EL 1 Forensic Accountant is an important team leadership position within the business and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. The role requires providing leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the team membership and assigned contractors working within the Work Area.

The position will exercise a considerable degree of independence to engage in very complex problem solving and issues management within the functions. The position requires exercising sound decision-making and judgement to produce high level policy advice and operational support.

The EL 1 Assistant Director Forensic Accountant is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and where required will represent and negotiate on behalf of the business to advance the business interests across a range of forums.

Duties

• Undertaking business planning, continuous improvements and the management of change in the workplace.
• Identifying and reporting on control weaknesses to inform the development of preventative measures.
• Conducting all aspects of forensic accounting for serious and complex fraud investigation matters.
• Presenting the results of financial analysis and information obtained from witnesses in admissible formats to support prosecution and proceeds of crime action.
• Supporting case reviews or quality assurance processes.

Required experience/skills

• Relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications)
• Extensive (minimum 4 years) direct finance experience performing and delivering complex financial and governance outcomes.
