Job Description


Wish is looking for an experienced Regulatory counsel who can contribute to our Legal team and work on complex issues in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role will help other teams understand the risks associated with content on the platform including the offer/sale/distribution of various products and will assist those teams with developing policies and procedures that mitigate those risks.

This role will report to the Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide regular, business friendly and scalable advice on global regulations concerning the manufacture, distribution, sale and use of a large variety of the consumer products offered by sellers on our platform, as well as regulations and emerging laws regulating platforms and marketplaces;
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to help Wish and sellers on Wish reduce risk and achieve compliance with applicable regulations;
  • Engage with regulators on product and various platform issues - educating them on the platform, addressing their concerns and advising internal teams on same
  • Collaborate with internal content review teams to develop effective and risk appropriate approaches to moderating content; and
  • Engage with internal stakeholders on the product team to help provide guidance on marketing and related activities - including privacy issues.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. (or foreign equivalent) with membership in U.S. bar or European equivalent;
  • 4-6 years of legal experience with a reputable law firm;
  • Experience advising clients on environmental, safety and technical regulations relevant to the manufacture, sale, distribution, and use of various products including consumer devices;
  • Expertise and/or experience advising clients on laws and regulations concerning marketplaces and platforms and intermediary liability;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage numerous time-sensitive matters and projects.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, innovative and demanding environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • In-house experience at a technology company
  • Experience advising a marketplace (ideally an e-commerce marketplace)
  • Product counseling experience
  • Experience developing and implementing procedures and workflows for internal teams and external users
  • Experience with and knowledge of intermediary liability, and laws and regulations governing online entities, including but not limited to CDA 230
  • Experience with EU regulations including the DSA, Product Directives and Marketplace Surveillance Regulation
  • Experience with working with marketing and product communications as well as GDPR and other privacy regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Business minded mindset
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage numerous time-sensitive matters and projects
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, innovative and demanding environment.
