CEO for MitraBlade

We're building a venture MitraBlade, the device and procedure will prevent left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction during minimally invasive mitral valve replacement, reducing adverse events and improving the percentage of patients eligible for the procedure.

The invention

LVOT obstruction is a major concern for interventional cardiologists during transcatheter mitral valve replacement procedures, and disqualifies approximately 50% of candidates from the procedure.

The invention is a balloon-based cutting device designed to be compatible with all existing and upcoming TMVR catheter systems. The balloon is inserted and expanded in the mitral valve to anchor it in place, after which an electrified blade is unsheathed from the catheter, cuts upwards through the mitral leaflet and is re-sheathed before removing the full system.

MitraBlade, reduces the time needed to cut the leaflet, as compared to current techniques, uses technologies already familiar to interventional cardiologists, and standardizes the procedural workflow. There is an early prototype already tested in porcine models that needs refining before additional animal testing.

The position of CEO The CEO will be responsible for developing and executing the overall business strategy, actively supported by NLC The Healthtech Venture Builder and work closely together with the inventors from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for the first period of time, afterwards create your own R&D team. Responsibilities include:

• Fundraising experience both dilutive and non-dilutive is a must
• Proven experience in product development for high class interventional cardiologic technologies
• Based in the USA
• KOL network with Interventional Cardiologists

CEO competencies and track record

You are highly motivated to make an impact on patients, have commercial success and are often described as:

• A connector with strong networking and influencing ability at all levels of seniority
• Excellent communication skills, including presentation and negotiation skills
• Background in Medical Engineering and/or interventional Cardiology
• Proven entrepreneurial experience within MedTech
• Familiar with US incorporation: FDA approval, Legal and Regulatory
