Our innovative collaboration platform BlueDolphin helps CxOs and Architects to plan, design, and manage business transformations, thanks to real-time insights that speed-up decision-making. We currently have customers using our platform across the globe, from corporations like A.S. Watson, Randstad, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Group to financial, pharmaceutical, technology, and consumer organizations such as ABN AMRO, Wakefern Food Corp, and Moss Construction.

For several years our beloved BlueDolphin has been part of the Gartner Magic Quadrant and rewarded with customer choice awards on several occasions. Headquartered in Utrecht, the Netherlands, with satellite offices in London, New York, and Hong Kong. Thanks to a recent B Series investment now further expansion awaits us.

In order to support our further growth, we are currently recruiting for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) based in our Utrecht office.

Where we are, where we want to be and your role in this path

ValueBlue recently got a series B investment and is at this moment sustainably but fast-growing the number of companies it serves all over the world with its platform - BlueDolphin. We have a commitment and an action plan to achieve worldwide market leader in the upcoming years.

As our CTO you play an important role in the further global scaling of ValueBlue, allowing more companies to reap the benefits of the BlueDolphin platform. As part of the Executive Team and in close collaboration with the Product Management team you not only translate our business plan and product roadmap into actionable release plans for the R&D team. You also make sure the foundations to work from in terms of tooling, processes, frameworks, etc. are of high quality, scalable, and allowing for innovation.

The Technology area and an ideal CTO

The R&D team is currently existing of 35 people and will grow over the next couple of years. Not only will we add more of the existing capabilities to our product, but also we expect you to build strategies, processes and frameworks that will make our technology area more predictable in its deliveries and proactive regarding our business needs. As an expert, you bring the required technical knowledge and experience. As an inspiring and people-focused leader, you will ensure the team is fully enabled and performing to the best of its capacity.

Finally, your learnings in enhancing the BlueDolpin platform as well as your observations on the field of business transformation is something you actively share, inside and outside ValueBlue. With that, you are a recognized thought leader and an advocate of the ValueBlue culture that is built around always taking the extra step, focusing on things that matter, and connecting the dots and the people.

Narrowing it to your daily basis and operational level contribution

• Setting a skilled team, tools, and frameworks for our technology area to develop a reliable, sustainable, and scalable platform as well as a strategic operation for tooling, techniques, and technologies;
• Taking make, buy or reuse decisions regarding parts of the platform and regarding the allocation of our resources;
• Be responsible for scalability, security, cloud, and architecture regarding our platform;
• Directly leading a team of engineer managers guaranteeing their individual performance and high management capacity to lead our engineering teams;
• Contribute to prioritizing roadmap items, and the tradeoff between non-functionals and feature development in a platform product with a high level of technical and functional complexity;
• Contribute to envisioning workflow and collaboration, reporting, integrations, and applying AI and ML in the platform.

A strong candidate would fill most of the boxes below

• You’re knowledgeable in multiple technology domains, not a specialist in one of two;
• You’ve worked as a people-focused Engineer Director/Manager or CTO at a B2B SaaS company;
• You have exposure as a decision-maker in multiple development areas;
• You have experience in working with (nearshoring) partners in the product delivery process and making make, buy or reuse decisions;
• You’re an expert in engineering tools, techniques, technologies, and frameworks;
• You’re experienced in applying AI and ML;
• You’re rarely got by surprise regarding new technology in the market;
• You’ve scaled the product/technology area of a SaaS company in the past;
• You have Enterprise Architecture background.
