About the Role More than 5 million drivers globally rely on Uber as their primary and flexible earnings source! To deliver on our value proposition as a flexible earnings platform, it is critical we reliably and clearly communicate what has been, and could be, earned to each and every driver on the platform. Information about earnings is the foundation by which drivers are able to set and track their goals and make tradeoffs about when and where to drive.
As a manager of the earnings platform team, you will have direct responsibility for vital systems and processes. You will take ownership of key features and initiatives in crafting and building high-quality, scalable systems in making earnings reliable and efficient. Your work will directly impact the lives of Uber’s partners (drivers, couriers), riders, eaters, and operations teams across the globe. What You Will Do

  • You’ll lead a team with a mission to bring transparency to earnings for all our customers by providing trustworthy systems and experiences
  • Drive the technical alignment internally and with partner teams
  • Own roadmap execution and delivery of projects with high quality
  • Contribute to the engineering culture and uphold the processes that will craft the team
  • Grow, mentor, and develop a team of backend and mobile engineers
  • Lean on technical experience to facilitate technical decision-making and improve the team’s engineering craft
  • Recruit high-quality engineering talent for the team
  • Help defines the future of the Uber Earning Platform
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience as a technical leader and manager who has built and managed world-class technical teams for at least 4+ years
  • Proven ability to work with and achieve results as part of a multi-location team
  • Proven track record of working with large-scale distributed systems (multi-tier architectures, application security, monitoring, and storage systems)
  • Experience leading engineering teams in parallel execution against high-stakes business goals and extensive engineering priorities
  • Experience partnering across functions and organizational boundaries to effectively advocate for team, business, and company priorities
  • A strong ability to architect and design robust, high-scale systems and to challenge engineers to think bigger and more generically in developing their solutions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in native App ecosystems including, design, development, and testing standard methodology
  • Excellent communication and analytical ability. We need someone who can quantitatively analyze the business value of engineering decisions and articulate a narrative about their importance
  • Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, and other complex backend systems
