Engineering Manager EIS

At Enterprise Infrastructure Services, we are transforming into a product-oriented organization to become the best infrastructure and workplace provider in the Netherlands and a trusted partner for NN’s Business Units. We are currently searching for Engineering Managers to help us throughout this transformation journey by increasing the craftmanship of our engineering teams, creating an engineering culture and organizing strategic workforce planning.

This job offers you a monthly salary between €5330 and €7615 depending on your experience. This is based on a 36-hour work week, excluding a 13th month and holiday allowance.

Your impact as Engineering Manager at NN Enterprise Infrastructure Services

At NN, Enterprise Infrastructure Services is the department that delivers secure, reliable and compliant workplace and infrastructure products to all business units of NN in support of their digital transformation efforts. Our products include a Private Cloud, Public Cloud, Managed Workplace, Application Integration, Network and Access Management. We are currently looking for Engineering Managers that can help drive our transformation towards a product-oriented department for four of our domains:

  • Network and Access: A set of managed network connectivity and access management products that provide secure and reliable network connections and access between internal or external (end-user) devices, applications and locations, including the Internet.
  • Digital Workplace: Your spot-on Digital Workplace enables a reliable, and seamlessly connected work experience, a healthy, productive and effective way of working, and boosts creativity, at home, in the office and on the go.
  • Private Cloud: A consistent set of easy-to-use, managed hosting products, provided from a central private hosting platform, that provide a solid foundation for secure, reliable, compliant and cost-effective hosting of NN business applications.
  • Application Integration: Products that enable the Business Units of NN to facilitate the communication between the applications of distinct entities in- and outside NN.

Engineering Managers play a vital role pushing these drivers for change forward by serving as change agents, inspirators and mentors to help engineers and engineering teams make the pivotal shift towards product-oriented ways of working. As an Engineering Manager, you take leadership responsibility within your product domain (covering one of the above mentioned domains) and work daily with the Product Manager, Product Owners, Engineering Teams and Engineers within the domain. Within this collaboration, you represent the Performance Cycle activities, help recruit and develop the best talent, coach teams to optimize their way of working and help increase the craftmanship of engineers.

Your responsibilities
  • You hire, coach, guide and retain the best engineering talent based on the engineering teams’ needs
  • Develop people on craftmanship and behavior, also by leveraging your own technical experience or interest in the craft
  • Guide engineering growth paths by providing clear guidance to junior, medior and senior engineers
  • Formal people cycle responsibilities (like goal setting and performance evaluation)
  • Organize strategic workpforce planning to ensure the teams have the right workforce for tomorrow’s challenges
  • Implement and maintain solid engineering practices within the engineering teams using market standards like DORA
  • Establish Objectives and quarterly Key Results on team learning and development
  • Focus on fostering workforce inclusivity and diversity
  • Collaborate with other Engineering Managers and the Head of Engineering to exchange best practices and help nurish engineering craftmanship and communities across the company
  • Stimulate inside-out and outside-in knowledge sharing
  • Positively contribute to NN’s branding in the technology job market
  • You either take point in executing the above responsibilities or delegate them partially to others
Your colleagues

You will work closely together in your product domain with the Product Manager, the Product Owners, Engineering teams, Engineers and architects. Within this group, you emphasize the improvement to the way of working, give attention to the skills and growth of individuals and help nurish a learning and engineering culture. Thereby supporting in the achievement of the domain’s goals and contributing to its success. Outside of your domain, you collaborate with other Engineering Managers within EIS but also at other Business Units and with the Head of Engineering to exchange best practices and help enhance the engineering profession across the company.

Your experience with IT, engineering and infrastructure makes you the perfect candidate!

Furthermore, you have (a combination of experiences is also fine):

  • At least 10+ years of relevant work experience as engineer. You are well informed about the latest technologies and use your own skills and expertise to coach and train your engineers
  • 3-5 years of experience in leading and managing a team of engineers
  • An endless drive to help people grow and provide new opportunities to learn
  • You make an effort to understand other people’s perspectives and long-term ambitions.
  • You provide regular feedback to others. You help them with insights on their effectiveness of their performance.
  • You stay informed on the latest developments in your area of expertise and effectively use this information in a long-term perspective

The office is located next to the A12, but is also easily accessible by public transport as well. Want to get some fresh air? You can take the tram or bike and you will be at the beach in half an hour.
