Garden Manager

Wairarapa people love to garden and we love to assist them with their gardening needs. We are looking for an experienced retail sales professional with a customer-focused attitude. You'll be leading a knowledgeable team, so garden knowledge is not essential, but may be an advantage.

Reporting to the general manager you will support the garden centre team in all the leadership, merchandising, customer service and overall department goals and objectives.

This will see you taking accountability for:

• ensuring customers are the number one priority, receiving the high standard of service they deserve
• promoting a team culture that encourages a positive working environment
• assisting with and taking on responsibility for on-the-floor stock, displays, point-of-sale and general standards within your department
• contributing to the overall success of the store, actively supporting loss prevention initiatives and process and
• other duties as required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• retail supervisory experience
• ability to work as part of a team, and provide direction and leadership
• strong organisational skills, with the ability to think ahead and offer innovative solutions
• a passion for customer service excellence
• general computer skills
• ability to manage a varied and busy work load

Merchandising and solid product knowledge relevant to this department would also be a real advantage.

This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday but ensuring the garden centre is ready for the busy weekend trade and ensuring we have adequate seven day leadership coverage across the week.
