Want to be involved in shaping your community? Operating across our Infrastructure group we are now looking for a Team Leader Technical Services & Design Transport. This position is a crucial role reporting through to the Head of Technical Services & Design. This is not a position that comes up often so take the chance to read and learn more!

There are three main components to the position and one of those is leadership. As a sound and experienced leader, you will guide your team of professionals who in turn provide support internally to key transport functions to deliver the Council's capital programme. You'll come from a practical background so when providing support to the team you are drawing on your previous experience. Your natural leadership capabilities will ensure you provide direction and empower your team with a motivated tactical approach. You'll ensure your team is consistently working collaboratively with other Council units and groups to achieve strategic outcomes.

Another key component of the position would utilise your technical expertise. With your eye for detail you will be able to observe policies and practices and make sure they are consistently observed and met whilst supporting operational planning processes. You will ensure that your team's designs and outputs meet the current standards and best practice as well as aligning to Council's Outcomes. Previous exposure to project management will help you to ensure we push projects to deliver on scope, on time and to a high quality standard while exceeding objectives.

Thirdly your focus on relationships and big picture thinking will see a collaborative approach to achieve organisational outcomes. You will have multiple projects on the go with a variety of asset owners and stakeholders - you'll have a knack when balancing relationships and a focus on common ground. You'll have a proven track record in developing and maintaining strong working relationships and partnerships both internally and externally.

This role requires you to have extensive experience in a similar position in a large organisation with at least three years in a leadership role. You'll be degree qualified in engineering or similar. What are you waiting for? Join us!

Additional information:

Hours of work - 37.5-40 hours
Location - This position is primarily based at Christchurch City Council Civic Offices
