The Finance team within Corporate and Shared Services provides systems, management and financial accounting advice and services to the Central Agencies. We work in our partner agencies to facilitate the achievement of business objectives and enable long term financial management and stewardship.

We're currently looking for a talented Assistant Accountant to join the team.


Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Undertake financial reporting and accounting activities that support the activities of the three agencies
  • Assist with the development and interpretation of accounting policies, processes and practices
  • Prepare the financial statements section of the Annual Report for an agency
  • Respond to audit requests and questions
  • Prepare and analyse monthly reconciliations and prepare monthly journals and accruals
  • Update and control the asset register
  • Prepare, upload and reconcile the monthly results to the CFIS system

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • A relevant financial tertiary qualification and ideally a professional accounting membership
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, excel and computerised financial systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly effective planning and organisational skills
  • The ability to coordinate and monitor work programmes
  • A focus on systems & process improvement with particular focus on finance functions
