MercyAscot is seeking a caring, reliable and experienced person to join our team as Inpatient Receptionist in our General Surgical Ward at Ascot Hospital in Remuera. This is a permanent full-time position, Monday - Friday 06:45am to 3:15pm.

As the first point of contact for the ward, our Inpatient Receptionist ensures that our patients & visitors receive outstanding customer service, and provides efficient administrative support to the Charge Nurse Manager, specialists and wider clinical team. This position will suit a committed customer focussed person who will be confident dealing with patients, specialists and colleagues at all levels. While previous experience as a medical receptionist would be ideal your willingness and ability to learn and adapt will set you up to enjoy this rewarding and important role.

Key task include:

  • Greet patients and visitors to the ward with a warm and friendly welcome
  • Attend to phone calls and enquiries, forward and follow up as required
  • Facilitate patient admissions, transfers, bookings and discharges
  • Collate and update patient charts and records
  • Ensure the smooth running of the ward from an administration perspective

Our preferred candidate will have:

  • Solid experience in a frontline customer service or reception role preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly
  • The ability to communicate confidently and clearly in a professional but friendly manner
  • Keen attention to detail, high level of accuracy and great organisational skills
  • The ability to work effectively and positively within a large team environment is essential
