Location : Christchurch, Canterbury
Company : Christchurch City Council
Salary :
Open Date : 2023-03-30
Close Date : 2023-07-30

Our Parking Compliance Officers are out there every day, rain hail or shine making sure that parking in the city is kept in order, our children are kept safe at the school gates, and that effective traffic management of special events is in place around the city. We keep the wheels turning and make sure there's no unnecessary congestion in our city and suburbs so that people can get where they need to be.

Yes, the role of a Parking Compliance Officer can be seen as a real pain-in-the-neck, and it's true that if you take on this role, you may encounter some complex situations and people. That's where your well-honed life skills and calm demeanor come into play, making it easy for you to communicate and de-escalate a variety of situations when required, but you'll also have the ability and common sense to know when to walk away from a challenging situation.

You're an ambassador for the Council. You're patient, have a friendly attitude and outlook on life. You'll have a love for Christchurch, and as a public figure, you'll be seen by the community and our visitors as approachable as they look to you for assistance.

Ask our officers, they'll tell you that on a sunny day in Christchurch there is no better place to be - soaking up the fresh air and clocking up your daily steps. This means you're prepared and physically fit enough to do a lot of walking. You'll also be able to prioritise your day to make sure that you're covering your allocated beat to a high standard. You'll be comfortable working alone as we have a big area to cover.
