Te Toihau Hauora, Hauātanga/the Health and Disability Commissioner promotes and protects the rights of health and disability services of consumers and facilitates the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to infringements of those rights.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Pouārahi o Ngā Hāmenetanga/the Director of Proceedings decides on referral from the Commissioner whether to issue proceedings against providers of health and disability services following investigation of complaints about the service they have provided. The Director and her team conduct those proceedings and appear at hearings.

The Director is looking for an intelligent, enthusiastic and capable Administrator on a part-time basis working 12 - 16 hours per week. Flexibility around days and hours of work is available (to be agreed with the successful candidate).

Ko ngā mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitū te haere | What you'll need to be successful:

  • The ability to work proactively to co-ordinate and manage the administration of the Proceedings team operations.
  • Skills and experience to provide efficient administrative support such as computer literacy (including a proficiently in typing) and the ability to proof-read to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Skills and experience to provide efficient and accurate litigation support including the preparation of court documents, bundles, and liaison with witnesses and counsel. Litigation support experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Initiative, great organisational skills, attention to detail, and be an effective team player with excellent communication skills.
  • You are expected to have an understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the aspirations of Māori.
