About Us

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference in your next role?

At Osho, our purpose is to radically accelerate the clean-energy revolution - starting with smarter, safer, and more efficient homes. We’re focused on improving experiences for people through the application of technology, data, and a deep understanding of human behaviour.

Why? As a society, we need to decarbonise and accelerate the transition to alternative energy sources. Existing solutions are expensive and disparate, with limited functionality.

Osho is driven by purpose, real innovation, and ambition. We have a talented team spread across New Zealand, with a creative space by the beach in Takapuna, and a Design Lab in Christchurch where our physical products come to life. We're more than happy to take on someone who wants to work remotely from a different location across New Zealand too, or wants to relocate.

We closed a $12m capital raise late 2021, so we're well funded and ready to grow. Our team is smart, curious and has some big goals - so if you’re interested in joining a fast-growing and startup that is design-led and puts people at its core, then we’d love to hear from you!

We're also currently in stealth mode, so check out our website and we'll share more with you during the recruitment process

The Role:

As our Design team is rapidly growing, we are now looking for another Digital Product Designer. This role could be for a solid Intermediate, or a Senior individual contributor with strengths primarily in UI, Interaction Design, and design systems. You will have had experience taking products from early ideas to market and beyond.

As a Product Designer at Osho, you'll have the opportunity to dive into some exciting things:

  • Team up with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional members to define product feature requirements, fostering a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.
  • Work with designers and engineers to enhance our design system, ensuring our products deliver consistent, high-quality experiences.
  • Help our team create designs that build trust with users and spark moments of joy and wonder.
  • Engage in user research, analysis, and testing, as well as usability testing, to gather valuable insights and enhance the user experience.
  • Bring your ideas to life through sketching, wireframing, and prototyping, showcasing your creative talents.
  • Be integral to the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, and celebrate the product's success with your team.
  • Keep yourself updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to ensure our designs stay fresh and innovative.
  • Champion a culture of design across the company, inspiring others to value the impact of great design on user experience.
  • Embrace ambiguity with a positive attitude, guiding your team through uncertain times and helping them find clarity and direction.
  • You have excellent communication and storytelling skills to effectively present your design concepts and ideas, ensuring they resonate with your team and our users.

We think you’ll be who we are looking for if:

  • End-to-end Product Design Experience: You've designed and shipped multiple products or features across various platforms. Experience with mobile native products is a plus.
  • Highly Collaborative Approach: You're happiest when working closely with other Designers, Engineers, and Product Leads. You value feedback and brainstorming ideas.
  • Interaction Design Experience: You can use the appropriate prototyping tools to show how a particular flow or interaction will work.
  • You excel in UI Design: You're driven to create exceptional visual designs that align with brand and design systems.
  • Problem-first mindset: You're obsessed with identifying gaps/opportunities and enjoy deeply investigating ambiguous problems.

Research shows that while men apply for jobs when they meet ~ 60% of the job criteria, women and other marginalised groups tend to apply only when they check every box. So if you think you have what it takes, but are not sure you check every box, we still want to hear from you

Applications without a work sample, portfolio, or case study won't be accepted.

Please note: We have offices in Auckland and Christchurch, but due to our remote first work culture we can accommodate applications from across New Zealand!

Benefits

  • A competitive salary and employee share scheme (ESOP)
  • A remote-first culture - work from home or come into the office, it's totally up to you
  • Great new headphones when you join
  • Flexible hours - we focus on effort and outcomes, so adjust your hours around your children, hobbies, or other commitments
  • A schedule of fun team events throughout the year (ziplining, knife throwing, lawn games, what's next?)
  • Office dogs
  • Unlimited annual leave so that you can take the time that you need to re-energise
  • Newly-refurbished offices in Auckland (by the beach) and Christchurch (by the park)
  • The opportunity to learn and develop from some of the best and brightest minds in the industry!
