Purpose of the post: To support in the development and implementation of training activities related to the Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) Programme in all districts of the province, through which personnel at all functional levels are taught the key technical and strategic aspects of their interventions in the Programme, to facilitate and ensure their effective performance when carrying out their roles.

Organizational context: Under the direct supervision of the Training Coordinator/Lead training unit and the overall supervision of the Coordinator Polio Eradication, the incumbent will be responsible for performing the following duties:

1. Design, develop and implement trainings in-line with country and program needs. Explore the use of innovative and customized principles, methods of curriculum development and training design including online platforms.

2. Develop and implement induction, refresher and management training modules and curriculum for the PEI including all SIA strategies as well as for the AFP surveillance activities for staff and non-staff personnel

3. Review relevant PEI strategic plans and utilize evaluations and training needs assessments to guide the training and capacity building programme for the Pakistan PEI programme

4. Conduct quality trainings of Trainers at provincial and district levels based on training needs and risk categorization

5. Support the review and update of the current National PEI training tracking and evaluation mechanisms including data quality and indicators

6. Support the review and development of training guides and job aids for effective dissemination of implementation guides and instructions to the frontline workers at field level

7. Support the establishment of a clear training calendar for all field operations including SIAs, surveillance activities

8. Support development and maintenance of a national archive of training material and mechanisms for access by personnel, including donor reports for yearly training activities analysis against provided budgets and funds

9. Support the design and implementation of training impact assessments against key performance metrics including National Emergency Action Plan performance indicators and regularly prepare assessment reports

10. Strengthen National and subnational training capacity through development of a pool of master trainers. Explore identification of quality trainers from all sectors

11. Support development of a capacity building plan for Provincial Training teams as well as other provincial and District workforce in collaboration with the Provincial team leaders as well as ensuring the proper utilization of the training budgets and funds.

12. Collaborate with PEI/EPI technical team in analyzing SIA coverage, identifying weaknesses and adapt training material / sessions to enhance quality of campaigns.

13. Engage with partners / agencies / academic institutions to improve training design and quality and explore opportunities for innovations and improvement

Professional experience and skills:

  • At least One year' experience in training and/or capacity building programme, including experience with the UN or International NGO dealing with PEI or similar project.
  • Deep knowledge of polio and polio eradication operations and activities.
  • Deep understanding of large-scale supplementary immunization processes and relevant capacity requirement
  • Basic knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Budgetary and planning skills related to the implementation of training activities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (eg. Word, Excel and Power point).
  • Knowledge and experience of working on public health issues would be an asset.
  • Excellent presentation skills


Education:

A first university degree in Social Science or Health Sciences


Languages:

  • Proficient use of English.
Knowledge of other local languages (eg. Urdu, Pashtu, Punjabi) is an asset.
