The purpose of the position is to provide technical assistance to strengthen the VPDs Surveillance. Under the direct supervision of the respective head of Country office/sub-office in close collaboration with the National Professional Officers (EPI) and the overall guidance of the Medical Officer (EPI), the incumbent will:
- Carry out all aspects of early detection, verification and assessment of Vaccine Preventable Diseases, to inform decision-making.
- Conduct regular weekly analysis of case-based surveillance data to facilitate timely information s for better preparedness and outbreak response.
- Monitor surveillance performance in all provinces and federating areas
- Follow-up on the on-line reporting via the surveillance app.
- Strengthen surveillance reporting compliance in the EPI-MIS.
- Support WHO Pakistan in the production and dissemination of information products and reports including weekly bulletins, situation reports, and outbreak investigation reports, among others.
- Strengthen sentinel site surveillance through conducting regular data analysis, reports and reviews.
- Support the procurement of surveillance lab supplies
- Support VPDs training and focal person’s capacity building
- Provide technical support in the field during outbreak.
- Support Federal EPI in developing comprehensive annual plan of action and monitoring its implementation through regular EPI review
- Capacity building of surveillance staff on VPD surveillance guideline.
- Work closely with Provincial EPI programs to develop training plan.Conduct training of respective Surveillance staff
- Support capacity building of surveillance staff on AEFI related to VPD vaccination, field investigation, detection, data management, and response.
Specific requirements
- Qualifications required:
Minimum Essential: University Degree in Medicine
Desirable : Master in Public health.
Minimum Experience required:
At least 5 years of experience working in disease surveillance.
Skills / Technical skills and knowledge:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
- Knowledge of the current health system, with good understanding of the vaccination program and hospitals.
- Ability to provide technical advice and design and undergo assessment, and formulation of policy and recommendations.
- Good interpersonal skills, team working, time management and coaching of others
Language requirements:
- Expert knowledge of English and local language
