Where do you fit in?

Reporting & Analysis employs some 25% of the total staff of Finance Operations. The core purpose of R&A is to provide a top quartile (effectiveness and efficiency) relevant external (Group and Corporate) and internal reporting for RDS.
R&A Norway team supports Norwegian Upstream entity (A/S Norske Shell) with end-to-end R&A scope: from finance in the business, through FP&A, to Reporting and Controller. Norway is an important pillar of Upstream Lean portfolio, with stable production and cash flows from its two operated assets and one non-operated asset (FY 2021: Production ~100 kboe/day, Opex ~ $300m, FCF ~$680m). R&A Norway team works hand in hand with the finance team located in Norway, fully displaying the One Team mindset and supporting each other on a daily basis.

What’s the role?

This is a role in Norway R&A Team. The purpose of the role is to deliver end-to-end meaningful Management Information for internal and external stakeholders. Focus area for the role would be to ensure the delivery of business insights through standardised and automated MI. The role is to be handled through close cooperation with the wider Norway finance community (incl. Norway Finance team onshore and other parts of R&A Norway team in FO). The scope of the role can evolve over time, to align with the business priorities.
The direct reporting line is to R&A Norway Senior Team Manager with strong interface to Norway FiB advisors, as well as Norway country LT members (including Operations, Projects, Development, and Exploration Managers)
Specifics of the role include:
  • Prepare all inputs to the financial performance assessment process (from budget holder level up to Country level), dimensions: Above Asset Costs, Opex, Capex, Expex, Abex, Production
  • Responsible for correct, reliable and meaningful analysis of financial data to enable value adding MI
  • Arrange regular meetings with the relevant budget holders, based on standard meeting agenda (actuals vs plan, forecast/latest estimates updates, treats & opportunities, time writing analysis). Challenge and agree proposal of forecast/latest estimates updates with their budget holders
  • Prepare annual Operating Plan in collaboration with budget holders and other members of Finance team
  • Responsible for cost allocation and master data management (establish business need, create and maintain allocation set up with support from Controllers), investigates and resolves unallocated balances
  • Support the Reporting team with detailed variance analysis for Group reporting/MI reporting. Provides input to statutory and tax reporting and related audits
  • Being a subject matter expert on direct/indirect cost allocations
  • Participate as a main resource in bi-annual direct cost audit of JV partners and support the other audits. Support JV auditor and Budget holders in partner recovery of cost
  • Ensure compliance with the Shell Group Control Framework and relevant standards/guidelines. Identify and Manage Financial Risks
  • Actively participate in the back-up structure
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects with focus on bottom line impact.

What we need from you?

  • Min 4 years of experience in Finance (preferably financial analysis, planning and management reporting areas). Prior experience in Upstream finance roles would be an advantage.
  • High competency in Excel is a must. Competency in SAP would be an advantage
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills to be capable of developing effective relationships with stakeholders and business partners. Ability to cut through complexity and articulate clear concise messages bringing edge to conversations where necessary.
  • Ability to translate business goals and value driving factors into financial and accounting requirements, as well as to translate them into actionable agendas, that are understood by non-financial business partners.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and have a curious mindset ensuring upfront clarity and alignment on requirements and way forward with relevant stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities for optimization, streamlining processes, eliminating non-value activities (Continuous Improvement mindset)
  • Ability to work virtually in an effective manner
  • Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a dynamically changing and demanding environment, ability to quickly learn and adopt to new requirements and tasks.
