Duties and responsibilities

As Welfare Administrator (Student Services – Welfare) you will be joining a small team responsible for delivering vital pastoral services within the Undergraduate School of Medicine programmes (MBBS Medicine and BSc Medical Biosciences). Supporting over 2500 students, you will be one of the first-line administrative contact for all urgent student-welfare cases including support students requiring disability support, mental health support and/or urgent referral to the Senior Tutoring team. You would coordinate the School of Medicine “Student Support Programme” as well as acting as secretary to the School of Medicine Student Welfare committees.

Shaping the culture of the wider student community, you will also help coordinate the communication package from the Welfare team as well as working closely with students/academics/staff to highlight the importance of wellbeing.

In addition, you will also support the Welfare Officer and Student Services Manager in implementing opportunities for improvement of existing administrative mechanisms, developing solutions and implementing approved wellbeing changes.

Essential requirements

You must be educated to degree level or equivalent, and have a high level of computer literacy, including confidence in using Excel, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will have a high attention to detail and strong organisation skills. Whilst experience of working in higher education and in a pastoral focused post is welcome, we are more interested in your skills and attitudes.

This post is Full Time and Open ended based at the South Kensington campus but with potential travel to other campuses to suit business needs.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
