About The Role Location: Home and Community based in Buckinghamshire

We are hoping to welcome an approachable and knowledgeable community based Dementia Adviser to work across the local community of Buckinghamshire. This amazing opportunity will provide a rewarding career helping to ensure that people live well with dementia. Our Dementia Advisers provide information, support and signposting to services for people with dementia and carers by telephone, through visits, groups, information programmes and awareness raising activities. You may be responsible for the successful delivery of a number of group services, i.e., virtual and face to face Singing for the Brain® groups, Carer Support Groups and other Activity groups for people affected by dementia and will be the role manager for a team of volunteers who support the local services. You will work alongside the Bucks Dementia Support Service and your role will involve effective service user involvement and liaising with voluntary and statutory organisations in the area. You may also be expected to manage a caseload of clients who are affected by dementia and assess client need, providing knowledgeable and trusted information.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to travel independently across Buckinghamshire. As a community-based worker, the geographical area to be covered will be based on the location of support required, however, flexible working is essential.

This role does not include personal care responsibilities. About you
You will need:
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • A good understanding of dementia and person centred approaches
  • An ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the need for client confidentially
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • An ability to manage and support challenging emotional situations
  • A proven ability to work in collaboration with external partners, including statutory and voluntary agencies, demonstrating a commitment to equality and inclusion
  • Good ICT skills
The successful candidate will be eligible to claim mileage from the boundary of the service area.
