The post holder will work as a member of the Cytosponge team to provide a combination of organisational and administrative support and be responsible primarily for booking clinics and organising medical records.

  • rimarily working with the Cytosponge clinical nurse specialists, provide effective support and co-ordination of the service by acting as the primary point of contact for patients, carers and medical teams and ensuring queries are directed to the most appropriate team members promptly and effectively
  • Acting as the point of contact both via the landline and mobile phone for the Cytosponge CNS telephone helpline dealing with calls promptly and efficiently with tact and sensitivity. Referring queries to the appropriate member of the nursing team. Ensuring these patients are booked into clinics as required.
  • Maintains excellent communication pathways between parties and the primary, secondary and tertiary care teams responsible for patients on an Endoscopy pathway.
  • To work alongside and communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Frequently communicate highly sensitive condition related information to patients with empathy, reassurance and sensitivity to the fact patients may not be able to assimilate information.
  • To communicate at regular intervals with the agencies responsible for the Cytosponge pilot at a National level including NHSE and Cancer Alliance.
  • To work alongside the Cytosponge nurses to provide an outstanding service.
  • To liaise with colleagues in Finance when placing orders for essential equipment and services
