As a Qualified Psychologist with experience of working with Children with eating disorders in a CAMHS environment, join the team at Rhodes Wood Hospital and provide highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions.

You will be responsible for conducting clinical-related research, development and clinical audits to support recovery, Service User participation, and line management and supervision of specialist clinical, trainee or assistant psychologists within your team . This includes supporting their further development.

This will suit someone who is passionate about delivering a high-quality psychology service to young people and their families, and enjoy providing supervision and working as part of a multidisciplinary team on some of the challenges facing mental health services for children and young people.

You will receive regular supervision and line management from a Principal Clinical Psychologist, as well as having access to a strong network of CAMHS psychologists who work closely together across Elysium Healthcare. There are also excellent opportunities for professional development.

As a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will deliver and offer contributions to the development of the specialist treatment pathway, which will see you create working relationships with local community teams, paediatric and other inpatient psychiatric wards.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a highly specialist brief, medium or long-term psychotherapy for children and young people with severe, complex and persistent mental health problems, learning difficulties and/or developmental problems
  • Providing in-depth risk-assessments of young people who are at risk to themselves and to be able to formulate more short-term crisis planning
  • Contribute to the process of care planning
  • Manage a complex caseload as the individual therapist working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Monitor clinical progress through regular reviews of psychotherapy treatment
  • Engage and work with children and young people with a range of learning and developmental difficulties, drawing upon your wealth of theoretical and practical knowledge

To be successful in this role, you will have :

  • Registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist and Charterable status with the British Psychological Society
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical/Counselling Psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society, or equivalent if trained overseas.
  • Post qualification training in supervision/specialist application of formal therapy models
  • Training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
  • Experience using CBT skills to address a range of clinical issues
  • Experience of working as a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist with children and young people and their families/carers
  • Experience of supervising and training junior members of the team
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment as a qualified professional within the context of a multi disciplinary care plan
  • Experience working with adolescents and their families with learning disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental conditions eg ASD/ADHD in a CAMHS setting

Where you will be working

Rhodes Wood Hospital provides care for children and young people aged 8-18 years with eating disorders or with learning disabilities who require residential care. You will work on tailored treatment programmes designed for the individual needs of each young person.
