Overview: The Council on Foreign Relations’s award-winning Digital Content department creates a mix of resources including in-depth explainers, timely analysis, interactives, podcasts, and videos. The team works closely with CFR experts to bring users insight on the most pressing foreign policy issues. The Writer/Editor will work under the direction of the Managing Editor and Deputy Managing Editors and collaborate with other members of the CFR.org team and the think tank. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to)::

  • Serve as CFR.org’s main online writer/editor covering Asia and the Pacific region as well as issues related to climate change. This includes writing Backgrounders, In Briefs, and consulting on video scripts.
  • Conduct research and writing on new interactive content.
  • Edit analysis and explainer pieces from CFR experts on Asia and climate change.
  • Assist in other site publishing work, including updates to homepage, editing, photo and multimedia research.
Qualifications:
  • 2 to 3 years of experience writing for a daily publication, preferably online
  • Experience writing on Asia and Pacific topics strongly preferred
  • Ability to write and edit under deadlines
  • Degree in related field with high academic achievement
  • Strong researching, writing, reporting, editing, proofreading skills
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop, data visualization, and other web publishing tools
