We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer for a key position within the GTP Mobile Team. The GTP Mobile Team plays a key role in driving the standards for React Native mobile application development within Walmart by partnering with design teams to drive the design of design systems and develop shared components based on design system specifications. In this role, you will get to work with a team of talented senior engineers to help set the standards for React Native mobile application development and help bootstrap the mobile application development journey for mobile developers across Walmart.

Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.

What you'll do:

  • Design mobile platforms, components and tooling applications for the Walmart developer community to implement business workflows and build mobile applications.
  • Responsible for design and development of the mobile shared component library which is used by over 100 internal teams.
  • Develop mobile components to help implement high-tech ideas for next generation retail. 
  • Develop mobile platform architecture to implement high-tech ideas for next generation retail. This involves technologies related to AR/VR, Automation/Robotics, Telemetry, and Code-injection technologies.
  • Implement features in Electrode Platform (open source) to inject React native code into existing iOS and Android applications (code). 
  • Implementation of Test Automation framework to ensure resilient code and increase code coverage by higher percentages.
  • Partner with the design team to drive the design of internal design systems for mobile application design.
  • Work with business and product teams to design software workflows across web and mobile platforms.
  • Work with software engineering stakeholders and convert the workflows into engineering specifications and requirements.
  • Work with software engineers in the team to deliver web and mobile software platforms using React, React Native, iOS and Android.

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and architecting mobile software for iOS and Android platforms.
  • 3+ years of React Native app development experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing React Native UI Components using language JavaScript and Typescript.
  • Experience developing and testing software for iOS platform using Swift and Objective-C.
  • Experience implementing and testing software for Android Platform using Java and Kotlin.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD to automate unit and UI Tests using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Concord.
  • Experience consuming and parsing remote JSON data using REST API. Experience effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in an agile environment using JIRA software.
  • Experience implementing and executing application development using the expertise in Mobile Operating System Internals.
  • Experience in mobile architectures including Model View Controller (MVC), Model View View-Model (MVVM), and VIPER. Experience publishing and managing dependencies using Maven and Gradle build systems.
