General Description of the Role

The Material Planner is responsible for leading the creating and maintenance of an achievable material plan for the assigned categories and ensure availability of all material as per business needs for the plants in Kingston, Jamaica. The Planner will be responsible to meet target stock levels and the inventory targets set.

The planner is responsible for meeting or exceeding all Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) with regard to material inflow, arrival scheduling, supply and service of raw and packaging material for the bottling lines.

The planner is directly responsible for ensuring strict control of all material under its scope, consistently analyzing material consumption and incoming supply and is required to act quickly to maintain the target balance between them.

Mission/Objectives

The Material Planner ensures optimal inventory levels and timely supply of raw and packaging material to meet the bottling schedule. The Planner will be the primary owner of the short- and long-term inflow of all required supply, on time and in full.

The Planner is the primary contact of the Supplier into Campari’s organization from an operational standpoint and establishes collaborative relationship with all internal stakeholders to ensure the needs of the business are met. The planner acts independently and is responsible to make business decisions, in accordance with the department’s planning guidelines, with limited supervision.

The Planner should always maintain a continuous improvement mindset and propose alternative and better ways of working, to serve the plant and the customer.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

Planning

  • Determine raw and packaging material requirements plan using SAP MRP based on the monthly supply plan

  • Analyze consumption and identify opportunities for inventory cost reduction and optimization while maintaining requested service level.

  • Proactively escalate supply concerns and forge a strong relation with the suppliers to ensure visibility of supply chain risk and opportunities

  • Provide direction to the internal stakeholders on best-in-class process via detailed analysis and fact-based proposal

  • Partner with suppliers to oversee on time delivery to meet the daily and weekly production schedule

  • Verify material inventory required for the production schedule as needed

  • Provide long term forecast requirements to key suppliers

  • Contribute to and execute inventory carrying policy

  • Partner with Quality team to execute RMA’s

  • Participate in the annual physical inventory by participating in counts and supporting research of discrepancies

  • Support invoice processing activities managed by accounts payable team

  • Participate in cross-functional project teams related to innovation and renovation projects

  • Manage material purchases of phase out products to minimize risk of obsolescence

  • Participate in applicable continuous improvement programs to contribute to KPI’s, increase efficiency/productivity, and/or identify cost saving opportunities.

  • Work proactively and collaboratively with other Packaging department employees to ensure daily production demands are met.

  • Ensure all relevant records and documentation are accurately completed and stored per retention policy. 

Safety/Quality

  • In coordination with the site EH&S Manager, ensure all actions comply with GMP practices and site safety rules

  • This position must participate in all EH&S related activities in their department and participate in any discussions surrounding safety

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards

Qualifications/Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience with material planning/buying or related activities

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with SAP (and/or equivalent MRP system) and Microsoft Excel

  • Experience in beverage or beverage alcohol is a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of packaging operations, preferably in the spirits category

  • Ability to support continuous improvement projects/initiatives

  • Familiarity with current GMP practices and a record of implementing SOPs to drive efficiencies

  • Ability to work collaboratively across department lines at all levels in a plant operation

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Supply Chain related certification is a plus (APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management or Certified Supply Chain Professional)

  • A working knowledge of TTB regulations, ISO requirements and Food Safety processes

  • Problem solving skills, attention to detail and customer service orientation

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a high-speed manufacturing environment

  • Ability to travel to the plant in Jamaica occasionally

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $90,640-113,300. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors and considerations. In addition to the base salary and a generous employee benefits package, employees are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
