Business Need / Purpose of Role

As a Welder / Fitter, you are responsible for applying appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate or repair parts of metal or other weld able materials, as specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or charts.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

  • Welds metal parts together using appropriate processes and performing related tasks such as cutting and grinding.
  • Repairs broken or cracked parts, files holes and increases size of metal parts.
  • Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products prior to welding.
  • Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications using measuring instruments.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Works under general supervision on duties and tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity.

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

  • Experience: 1 or more years’ experience in heavy equipment and structural welding
  • Fluc Core Arc Welding (FCAW) Experience with 1/16 wire
  • Certifications/Licenses in welding are welcome.
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Read blueprints, general understanding of heavy equipment.
