Description

As an integral part of the clinical care team, the Cardiovascular Specialist I is responsible for preparing a patient for invasive cardiac procedures, assisting the health care team in hemodynamic monitoring during the case, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain sterile techniques to prepare room, equipment table, and provide quality care to patients.

2. Monitor equipment to ensure appropriate working conditions and during procedures. Alert the care team of any changes.

3. Retrieve supplies under the direction of physicians and nurses during the procedure as needed.

4. Maintain stock at par level in the procedure room by restocking rooms after each procedure with items used during the procedure. Restock lab area as needed.

5. Participate in product evaluations.

6. Count the number of revolutions during a rotablator procedure.

7. Turn on and check all equipment at the beginning of the day. Trouble-shoot problems and immediately contact the appropriate person to repair equipment

8. Check the monitoring equipment, intravascular ultrasound, pacemakers and IABP pump in working condition. Trouble-shoot problems and immediately contact the appropriate person to repair the equipment.

9. Assist in the transport of patients and transfer of patients to the procedure table.

10. Perform assignment according to established guidelines

a. Assist cardiologist with selective procedures.

b. Apply principles and practices of asepsis.

c. Perform surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving procedure.

d. Set up sterile instrument table and prepare supplies according to type of procedure.

e. Assist in draping of patient and procedure area according to need.

11. Is open and responsive to the diverse backgrounds and experience of other people, and promotes an environment that is sensitive to cultural diversity.

12. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Foreign MD who has passed MBBS examination may substitute.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS/RVS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Mount Sinai experience in Cardiac Cath or EP lab.
  • Foreign MD who has passed MBBS examination may substitute
  • BLS certification Required Issuing Authority: AHA or Red Cross
  • ACLS certification Preferred Issuing Authority: AHA or Red Cross

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $34.52 - $37.69 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
