The College of Communication is seeking an Education Technologist to support its Technical Operations Department. This position serves as the public bridge between the multitude of advanced media creation tools COM offers and the Students and Faculty clients. The technologist will create specialty training materials, documentation, review material created, and work one-on-one with faculty and students in COM. This position will also interface with other members of the technical staff to communicate troubles students are experiencing and design solutions that fit within the department's budget and scope.

Creates comprehensive written and video training material for all areas that the Technology department maintains. Topics include podcasting with Wheatstone and other professional audio equipment, photography using professional and cine cameras (Canon, Nikon, Blackmagic, Zoom and Prime Lenses, etc.), video editing with Adobe Premiere, Blackmagic Resolve, and related application, RAW processing, color correction/grading, Surround mixing, video distribution on streaming/hosting platforms, logging, etc. Ensures COM produced content complies with ADA and other standards. This includes accurate subtitles, correct attribution, etc. Develop workflows for updating existing material to meet these requirements. Train COM faculty and students on methods to meet requirements. Serve as a subject matter expert on mass communication technologies: Website Content Management Systems (CMS), Video streaming/distribution platforms (Kaltura, etc.), and news management systems (RunDownCreator, ENPS, Wordpress, etc.) Create and maintain an internal Knowledge Base for the Technology departments systems and changes. Create and maintain the Technology department's public facing documentation on our service offerings. Works directly with students to answer questions and review best practices for using Adobe and other applications related to services the COM Technology department provides. Hires and manages the evening student employers who provide assistance and oversight of technical facilities in the evening and off-hours. Designs and assists in hands-on workshops with students and faculty that cover all equipment in the department's purview. Assists in technical support of classroom AV and responds to urgent requests for immediate assistance on technology related matters.
