Your Job

As the Automated Test Engineer, you will be responsible for developing test strategies for electrically testing high speed data cables. The test strategies will support manufacturing of High-Speed cable assemblies based on standards such as Ethernet, Infiniband, Fibre Channel, PCIe, SAS, SATA, etc. This individual will support the development of software to provide integration of custom test requirements and customer furnished equipment including network switches and server emulation hardware. Additionally, this person will provide support for utility development for the Automated Test team infrastructure.

Our Team

The Automated Test Engineer will join a dynamic team within Molex based in Conway, AR. This team is at the forefront of developing and executing comprehensive mechanical and environmental testing strategies for high-speed data cables. With a focus on innovation and quality, the team collaborates closely with various departments such as product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance to ensure that all products meet or exceed rigorous standards and customer expectations.

What You Will Do

  • Develop production test strategies to support global manufacturing of high-speed data cables.

  • Develop, integrate, and make software upgrades to test systems used across multiple manufacturing regions including China, Philippines, India, Mexico.  Must coordinate software development activities within the design center departments including product development, manufacturing, marketing, quality, etc.

  • Work closely with multifunctional teams to insure global deployment of automated production test systems for cable assembly products. Direct production test resources to ensure compliant use of deployed test systems.

  • Create and deploy software, conduct software reviews, perform system verification and validation, analyze and resolve failure modes and document results.

  • Create product and test system documentation, specifications and work instructions.

  • Understand, support, and contribute to Molex TQM and Quality / Environmental Management Systems by following approved policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as required by management.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Systems/Computer) or in an equivalent discipline

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in test and measurement.

  • Working knowledge with compiled programming languages such as C/C++ or VB/C# with the Microsoft .NET framework.

  • Working knowledge with scripted programming languages such as Python.

  • Ability to apply computer programming concepts to solve complex problems in a variety of programming environments.

  • High proficiency using analytical tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others as required.

  • Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely with global teams.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • M.S. Degree in Engineer (Electrical/Systems/Computer) or in an equivalent discipline

  • Minimum 2-5 years of progressive engineering experience with a strong understanding of product High Speed testing and designs.

  • Extensive experience with RF/microwave test and measurement equipment such as digital sampling oscilloscopes, TDR modules, 4-port network analyzers, and bit error rate testers.

  • Working knowledge of RF/microwave transmission line theory including s-parameters, Fourier transformers, characteristic impedance, eye diagrams, time-domain analysis, cross talk, bit error rate testing, jitter analysis, etc.

  • Experience using relational databases with software such as Microsoft SQL or MySQL.

  • Electromagnetic simulation experience with software such as Ansys HFSS or CST Microwave Studio.

  • Lean/six sigma yellow or green belt training. Understanding and application of control charts, process capability, gage R&R, and other lean/six sigma tools.
