Serves as a content review specialist by maintaining the consistency of written copy for company web products and setting editorial style. Edits, writes and enhances copy to meet established tone and style requirements. Serves as communicator to design community with current and complete information. Provides continuing content development and ensures consistency of web site. Undertakes HTML editing and proofreading web pages. Works internally with team members and programming, as well as external web site development teams. All levels of this job family require outstanding writing and editing skills, as well as sound working knowledge of current web content development practices.

The role of the Web Content Specialists is to create and manage the content on a website. Web Content Specialists work with a variety of different media, including text, images, video, audio, etc., to create engaging and informative web pages.

Web Content Specialists may also be tasked with maintaining the site’s overall design and layout. This includes making sure all elements are properly organized and formatted so they look good across various devices and screen sizes.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

  • Write blog posts or other content that engages readers, builds brand awareness, and encourages conversions
  • Conduct search engine optimization (SEO) to improve organic visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs)
  • Research topics related to the website to create content that will appeal to specific audiences
  • May create infographics or other visual content that adds interest to the website
  • Manage online advertising campaigns by creating and placing ads on social media sites, blogs, and other channels
  • Collect data about website users’ demographics and interests to help better target specific marketing campaigns
  • Create new web pages from scratch or updating existing content to ensure it is relevant and consistent with branding guidelines
  • Review content for accuracy and appropriateness to ensure compliance with branding standards
  • Conduct research on topics related to different and related industries to create content that resonates with users
  • Keep up to date with trends across the web content industry

Knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • Ability to write about complex topics clearly and concisely
  • Ability to explain complex or technical topics in a way that is easy to understand
  • Ability to conduct extensive research about topics related to the website
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to effectively plan and organise and work under pressure
  • Ability to proactively find solutions to problems
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to build rapport and engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of web development languages such as HTML, CSS and others

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English, Journalism Communications or Computer Science
  • Relevant certification(s) required

Experience required:

  • Relevant demonstrated experience gained within a similar role
  • Relevant demonstrated experience in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
  • Previous relevant experience in technical writing
  • Previous demonstrated experience in creating and managing social media accounts for organisations
