Job Purpose

The site Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator has the responsibility of executing and maintaining HSE systems, policies and procedures, which facilitate the Site’s compliance with community expectations, Mars Corporate and Governmental laws, regulations and standards. The role has responsibility to advise and assist line management to ensure compliance with these requirements. The HSE Coordinator is responsible for the continuous improvement activity set by HSE Manager that embodies prevention, pro-activity, risk assessment, knowledge/ competency development and associate involvement essential in the development of a zero-incident culture.

What are we looking for?
  • National Diploma in Health, Safety and Environment Management or Similar

  • Strong heath safety and environmental regulatory knowledge required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including a high level of comfort developing and delivering training and motivational presentations to all levels of associates is a must

  • 1-5 years’ experience in implementing safety, environmental programs in a manufacturing area

  • Basic knowledge of food manufacturing and GMP a plus.

  • Must have the ability to positively influence safe behaviors

What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Responsible for the deployment of all Company HSE Legal requirement as they specifically apply to the site.

  • Assist the HSE Manager for the deployment of all Company HSE Standards as they specifically apply to the site.

  • Lead and ensure compliance to HSE audits (Mars Management System Framework & Priority Standards).

  • Ensure Site maintains continuous “audit ready” state of compliance with company and governmental HSE Standards through internal Audit.

  • Ensures investigation of all HSE related incidents utilizing specific tools to drive to root cause and identify actions to prevent recurrence. Drives completion of recognized corrective actions to prevent incident recurrence are effectively implemented, this includes execution of corrective actions developed from other site incidents.

  • Record all the corrective actions from Incidents/ Safety inspection/External audit and manage the CAPA process

  • Responsible for reporting KPI’S on a periodic basis to HSE Dashboard.

  • Responsible for maintaining all the documents and provide the necessary record on demand.

  • Update and display safety policies and pertinent information on the company bulletin board.

  • Responsible for conducting the Internal Audit

  • Responsible for administering the planned HSE training programs to happen on time by coordinating with the respective associates

  • Delivers training and coaching to establish clear understanding by all site associates on HSE expectations.

  • Assist the HSE Manager to ensure the site Plant Emergency Organization has the tools, skills and knowledge to effectively respond to plant HSE emergencies.

  • Deploy site risk assessment plan

  • Promote safety awareness through periodic safety campaigns, awareness and training programs to improve site safety and environmental performance as well as to embed & sustain safety best in class behavior in the site.

  • Continuously improve the environmental and sustainability (energy, water and waste) aspects of the site
