We’re looking for a Data Protection Manager join our Contract Services team that is passionate about improving healthcare through innovative clinical research. As a member of the Premier Research team, you’ll help create tangible solutions for patients in need while building cross-functional partnerships that enable your growth and success.

The Data Protection Manager will work with the VP, Privacy and Global DPO in leading stakeholders across multiple teams in the implementation of data protection compliance activities. The Data Protection Manager will help to drive privacy by design throughout the organization and be responsible for coordinating activities with regards to privacy and governance related matters.

What you will be doing:


  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a data protection framework aligned with GDPR, ISO 27001 and regional and global privacy laws in order to facilitate Premier Research’s goal to achieve accreditation with various privacy standards.
  • Responsible for the project management of Premier Research’s data protection compliance activities.
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders to coordinate implementation of data protection compliance controls within agreed timeframes and quality standards.
  • Drive compliance with data protection policy and framework requirements.
  • Perform Quality Control on implemented data protection activities to monitor effectiveness of data protection compliance activities.
  • Create and maintain the central repository of evidence for data protection compliance, aligned with the data protection framework.
  • Continuously monitor compliance with the data protection framework across the business.
  • Assist the VP, Privacy and Global DPO in performing risk assessments and privacy assessments/audits of new technologies, vendors and processes.
  • Ensure follow up and resolution of identified issues and risks in respect to the processing of personal data both within and across business functions and document fully in the risk register.
  • Work to address issues and risks listed in the risk register in a timely manner and document mitigation and resolution activities.
  • Provide a monthly report, along with performance metrics on the progress of risk activities and provide actionable data to Senior Management based on identified compliance issues and trends.
  • Work with internal Quality teams to identify and trend business risks related to data protection and ensure that the company’s Risk Management Plan is continuously improved to address data protection risks.
  • Assist with the implementation of other data protection compliance activities and standards.
  • Perform any other ad hoc activities or projects required for Premier related to privacy or data protection.


What we are searching for:


  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, computer science, information systems or a related area along with related work experience in the field of Data Privacy, Compliance or IT, including experience of the development of and monitoring of information security, data protection or other similar compliance frameworks required.
  • Three years’ in a privacy role or similar compliance type role required, and experience auditing technology vendors and platforms desired.
  • Good knowledge of GDPR, other regional and global privacy legislation
  • Good knowledge of best practices in information security necessary
  • Deep understanding of information technologies and data privacy and security, particularly in relation to healthcare and life sciences industries.
  • Familiarity with OneTrust Privacy Management Software an advantage.
  • Experience with documenting, analyzing and improving business processes.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with influencing skills to get things accomplished
  • Ability to work with a range of business stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure their activities are in line with policies and standards.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to drive actions to conclusion.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment and discretion in carrying out activities.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
  • Capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members across multiple cultures across the world.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously as well as in cross-functional groups.
  • Ability to understand Premier Research’s business processes, policies and practices.
  • Professional qualifications in information security or cyber security risk management and/or information security auditing are a plus, such as the CISSP, CAP or CDPSE from ISC2 or CISA from ISACA certification bodies.
