PROJECT SUMMARY:
India has the largest adolescent (age 10-19) population in the world, estimated at 253 million, approximately 20% of the total population. Improving adolescent health, particularly SRH and nutrition, and their agency to make informed decisions engenders a “triple dividend of benefits": addressing immediate health needs, improving future health, and promoting “the welfare of the next generation’. UNFPA is key partner for Adolescent Health Division, Government of India in planning, implementation and monitoring of School Health & Wellness Program and Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram across the country and especially in 6 states allotted to UNFPA (Bihar, Delhi, Odisha, Rajasthan, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh). EngenderHealth is Currently partnering with UNFPA for providing technical and implementation support to the respective state departments, for rolling out of School Health and Wellness Program and RKSK. This technical support envisions strengthening robust program implementation of the SHWP and RKSK programs of the government of India.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Associate is tasked with supporting Senior Manager, Programs to coordinate between state program teams and other identified technical agencies in the program for effective implementation of the project.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinate activities with the state teams to provide TA for improving implementation of adolescent health programs-RKSK and SHWP
2. Coordinate activities at ICO level to develop and implement innovative strategies for improving the effectiveness of adolescent health and well-being programs in identified states
3. Coordinate activities at ICO level to help in evidence-generation and advocacy for enhancing investments and expanding adolescent health programs across the country
4. Coordinate activities between identified technical agencies hired under the project for smooth implementation of project and trouble shoot them or bring it to notice of Senior Manager, Programs.
5. Visit the implementation sites and provide supportive supervision to ensure that implementation is as per quality.
6. Support the state teams in the PIPs and help frame a plan for activities to be conducted under SHWP and RKSK
7. Coordinate with state teams to ensure that activities happens on time and as per work-plan.
8. Coordinate with other teams at ICO to ensure that project related activities are completed in a timely manner
9. Ensure timely and accurate collection of data from state teams on all relevant indicators and their feeding into the system.
10.Act as a link between Senior Manager and state teams and support in regular monitoring of project deliverables.
11.Provide necessary analysis of data and assist Senior Manager in writing of reports and other technical briefs
12.Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor as per need of the program.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Postgraduate/Graduate in social work/ public health /Social Science/ Rural management with more than two years of experience in supporting government programs. Fresher with exceptional record of accomplishment can also be considered.
  • Familiarity with/having worked in government health programs/programs related to adolescent and young people health.
  • Knowledge of structures and functioning of government departments related to health
  • Knowledge of School Health and Wellness program and Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Program

ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS:
  • Committed to EngenderHealth’s core organizational values of reflection, inclusion, integrity, respect, and transformation.
  • Knowledge of basic M & E framework
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, analytical and interpersonal abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to liaise with a verity of stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to difficult to reach areas (slums, tribal population and marginalized women)

PREFERRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS:
  • Computer proficiency with high level of familiarity with MS Word, Excel, power point etc. and data base management programs.
  • Must be proficient in English. Having knowledge of local language is desirable.
  • Willing to travel up to 50% of time.
