Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Responsibilities include working with Corporate Banking, RBC Sales & Trading (as appropriate) and other groups to facilitate and enhance the credit process through efficient and value-add support to partners, including onboarding activities, and execution of new transactions, amendments, and extensions; manage a full range of credit, trading and transactional products; compliant funding; excess management; annual reviews, regularisations, maintaining data integrity/the bank’s credit portfolio system, onboarding activities and compliant funding. Provide prompt attention to client requests from other RBC units. Resolve credit issues with various banking units and Group Risk Management as required and provide advice as warranted

What will you do?

  • Manage and provide “Middle Office” support of the corporate credit portfolio.
  • Responsible for data integrity of accounts in the assigned portfolio, ensure bank systems correctly reflect relevant information.
  • Work closely and maintain positive relationships with Corporate Banking, Global Markets, Credit Analysis & Assessment, Loan Portfolio Management, and with other areas of the bank, notably Group Risk Management, Global Loans Administration, Global Treasury, Global Services, the Global Banking Business Centre back-office support group, and Agency Services.
  • Ensure timely preparation of transaction requests - likely to include, but not limited to, new credits, restructurings, renewals, waivers, loan documentation review, establishing lines for trading, lending, and cash management, indicative risk ratings.
  • Use bank policies/guidelines and judgement to manage daily excesses, over-limit payments in accordance with Delegated Authorities and, managing ongoing credit relationships within RBC providing fair, specific and balanced advice.
  • Keep up on policy changes/updates and participate in team deliverables with respect to regulatory/audit priorities.
  • Demonstrate a client service mindset while negotiating documentation, booking new credit lines, implementing rigorous reporting requirements, credit surveillance and operationally managing lending portfolio to enable Banking and Trading businesses to drive revenue.
  • Completion of ad-hoc projects efficiently and effectively in order to support the team meeting planned and unplanned demands.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Academic background with a Ba Honours, other professional designation or relevant work experience.
  • Strong financial risk analysis and/or accounting skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage competing demands.
  • Excellent written and spoken communications abilities
  • Ability to work in an interactive team environment
  • Strong general PC skills and demonstrated capability to learn key internal systems (CCMS, Newton, TMS, CID, DMS, TDS, Fenergo)
  • Ability to strike a balance in putting “Client First” while ensuring that internal standards are maintained and deliverables are provided

Nice-to-have

  • One or two years’ experience in a credit risk role/function
  • Understanding of LMA style credit documentation
  • CFA accreditation
  • Familiarity with the RBC Capital Markets credit process and loan agreements
