We have a fantastic opportunity for a Safety & Security Assistant at our Southampton store on a permanent basis working 30 hours a week. This is an exciting opportunity, and you'll be joining a great team!

In the IKEA world, we call this position a Safety & Security Co-Worker.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • IKEA is a Living Wage Foundation Employer (£10.90 an hour).
  • 30-hour contract working 5 days over 7, which includes 3 in 4 weekends.
  • Earliest start times will ordinarily be 07:00am and latest finishes would ordinarily be 22:00pm.
  • We operate 7 days a week and so full availability to work during the day, early mornings, late evenings, and full weekends is essential.

You will:
  • Possess an ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Have ideally some experience within a concierge, receptionist or administrative background, or even a customer service environment.
  • There is a compliance element to this role. You will have an understanding of or a passion to learn about all things compliance.
  • Have a high standard of written and verbal communication skills to be used with our customers and co-workers.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Have an ability to work in a self-directive environment to resolve problems and to complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Have the ability to react to an emergency situation and be prepared to make decisions.

Due to Health & Safety Regulations and the nature of this role, you must be 18 years old or over.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY-TO-DAY
The purpose with this job is to ensure a holistic and proactive safety and security risk handling for our store. You will make sure priorities are well accepted and understood, risks are identified, assessed and treated, and by doing so, safeguarding our co-workers, customer, assets and the IKEA brand.

  • You meet and greet external contractors entering the store and maintain visitor, contractor and co-worker access to and from the store.
  • You monitor fire safety and security systems, respond to alarms and initiate emergency response without delay and support the Safety & Security function in store through monitoring and reviewing of CCTV and other security infrastructure.
  • You are responsible for the recording of incidents and accidents; maintaining the Incident Reporting System and assist with Loss Prevention and detection of offenders.
  • You will carry out administrative duties, including audits, reports, maintaining and filing records and support the stores daily operations, signing in/out guests to the store.
  • Carrying out health and safety audits and stock and invent investigations.
  • Carrying out First Aid checks, test check-out purchases.
  • Being deployable to any situations that may arise through out the store.
